The Villagers

For more than thirty years, The Villagers was the community newspaper of Balquhidder, Strathyre, Lochearnhead & St Fillan’s. As of  11 January 2024, we're sorry to say that The Villagers is no more. The current team has been putting the paper together for more than a decade now, and we've reached the stage where we haven't been able to find anyone to take over the tasks of production, sales, editing and distribution. We’ll keep the web site up for the moment and will look at making the archive of past issues available for the long term.

Covid-19

We’ve been planning to take the Villagers online for some time. As of this week (March 24 2020), we have of course lost the facility to print and distribute the paper, for the immediately foreseeable future.

So here then is our contribution to fighting the tedium of Covid-19 lockdown: the last year’s worth of issues of The Villagers, in a form that you can browse like a book, download as a PDF or, indeed, print off if you feel the urge.

Yes, The Villagers is a paid publication, and we’ll be implementing a paid-for online version as soon as normal service is resumed. We’ll also be making sure that our existing subscribers and advertisers don’t lose out as a result of the current crisis. But, right now, here, in all its award-winning glory, is The Villagers.
